The main antioxidant production company in the world is Ciba Specialty chemicals. Ciba Specialty Chemicals is currently the largest antioxidant manufacturer in the world. It has established wholly-owned or joint venture antioxidant production plants on all continents of the world. In 2012, Ciba Specialty Chemicals invested nearly US $100million to build a plastic antioxidant device on Jurong Island, Singapore, with an initial capacity of 30kt/a. It was completed and put into operation in 2014, accounting for about 30% of the global antioxidant market.
Due to the rapid growth of demand in Asia, antioxidant enterprises in the United States and Western Europe have accelerated the transfer of production units to Asia. At present, antioxidant production in Asia is mainly concentrated in China, South Korea, Taiwan, China and Japan. North America, Western Europe and Asia are the main production and consumption regions of antioxidant in the world. North America, Western Europe and Japan have large consumption of antioxidants.
Plastic antioxidants produced and consumed in China are divided into four categories: hindered phenols, phosphites, thios and compounds. China developed mono phenol hindered phenol antioxidant BHT in the 1950s, thioester antioxidants DLTDP and dstdp in the 1960s, polyphenol hindered phenol antioxidants 1010 and 1076 in the 1970s, phosphite antioxidant 168 and composite antioxidants 215 and 225 in the 1980s. The product varieties and quality of domestic plastic antioxidants can basically meet the needs of domestic petrochemical and plastic industries, and the main antioxidant varieties are exported every year.
The rapid growth of plastic production in China has promoted the production and consumption of antioxidants in China. In recent years, many large olefin plants have been built and put into operation in China, and the market prospect of plastic antioxidants in China is broad.
The production distribution of plastic products industry in mainland China has obvious regional characteristics, and its main production areas are concentrated in the southeast coast of China. The regional distribution of plastic products output in 2009 is as follows: the output of plastic products in Guangdong Province reached 10.5232 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of -0.50%, still ranking first in the country; Zhejiang Province was 8.115 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 6.60%, ranking second; Shandong Province was 4.3854 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 12.37%, ranking third; Jiangsu Province was 4.014 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 10.05%, ranking fourth; Liaoning was 2.7521 million tons, with a year-on-year increase of 18.56%, ranking fifth. The output of other plastic products in Hebei, Henan, Anhui, Sichuan and Fujian ranges from 1.4 million to 1.6 million tons. The output of Guangdong, Zhejiang, Shandong, Jiangsu and Liaoning provinces ranks first in the country, and the total output of plastic products in the five provinces is 29.7897 million tons, accounting for 66.5% of the total output of plastic products.
The report on in-depth research and prospect prediction of China's plastic antioxidant industry from 2014 to 2018 shows that from January to may 2014, the output of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 18100 tons, an increase of 23.8% year-on-year. In 2013, the output of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 32700 tons, an increase of 14.3% year-on-year.
From January to may 2014, the demand of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 27900 tons, an increase of 18.9% year-on-year. In 2013, the demand of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 43100 tons, an increase of 9.4% year-on-year.
From January to may 2014, the import of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 9800 tons, an increase of 8.4% year-on-year. In 2013, the import of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 11600 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 4.1%.
From January to may 2014, the export of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 1700 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 19.8%. In 2013, the export of China's plastic antioxidant industry reached 3000 tons, with a year-on-year increase of 7.1%.
With the rapid development of the plastic industry, especially the continuous development and application of various new functional plastics, the global antioxidant industry is developing in the direction of specialization, serialization, compounding, greening and efficiency. For the stable and healthy development of China's antioxidant industry and a firm foothold in the increasingly fierce market competition in the future, the key is to understand the current trend of antioxidant development and vigorously develop antioxidant varieties suitable for the development of plastic industry.
